Man arrested after Lockport bomb threat

LOCKPORT – An apartment building was evacuated and a man was arrested after a bomb threat was reported to Lockport City Police about 11 a.m. Thursday.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad and personnel from the U.S. Department of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives helped police clear the building at 77 Main St., where the bomb was reported to be in Room 406. After no explosives were found, residents were allowed to go back inside.

City detectives determined the identity of a suspect, who was apprehended a few blocks away after a struggle, authorities said. Police said he admitted to making the threat.
