Cuomo’s hypocrisy is truly astonishing
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the GOP’s plan to free up counties from having to pay a share of Medicaid costs is unconstitutional and he’ll file a lawsuit on behalf of the people of New York. Hello? Isn’t the SAFE Act unconstitutional? This is an example of the pot calling the kettle black. Cuomo’s hypocrisy is astonishing.
The Second Amendment states, “The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” It seems quite clear to me. What’s so difficult to understand about that? Clearly, the SAFE Act is a violation of our Constitution. Cuomo rammed it through at night, in secret, behind closed doors and with zero public input. Why? Because it would have been DOA if subjected to the disinfectant of public sunshine. This isn’t how things are done in a democracy. Instead, this is an example of how things are done in a Third World, tin-pot dictatorship.
The SAFE Act isn’t keeping anyone any safer. The gang-related shootings continue unabated because criminals don’t obey gun control laws. In fact, the SAFE Act is making law-abiding citizens less safe by taking away their means of self-defense. Apparently, the true intent of the SAFE Act is to disarm the law-abiding public.
