FOOTBALL: SUNY Buffalo State Head Coach Jerry Boyes, staff and players will give a free football coaches’ clinic Monday at 7:00 p.m. in the Houston Gym on the Buffalo State Campus. The staff and players will demonstrate techniques and drills to improve football play. The WNY football coaches will present their annual awards. LACROSSE: Canisius men’s lacrosse and Dick’s Sporting Goods will host an instructional clinic on April 15, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The clinic will include instruction from Canisius and Canadian National Team Head Coach Randy Mearns, and Griffs players. Capped at 100 participants, the players must currently be enrolled in grades one through eight, and not play on a team with the Class of 2020 or older, due to NCAA compliance. Participants will receive a free ticket to Canisius’ game against Siena at 3 p.m. and a special gift from Dick’s Sporting Goods, and need to provide name, age, organization played for/with, parent name, parent contact number and address. RUNNING: Independent Health and Canisius College will hold the 19th Shoes For The Shelter 5K run on April 23, 10 a.m. in downtown Buffalo. Registration for the USATF-santioned event will be at Canisius College’s Patrick Lee Center, located next to the Koessler Athletic Center at the corner of Main and Delavan, 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Entry fee for adults is $25 pre-registration and $30 the day of the race. The first 500 registrants receive a dri-fit T-shirt and everyone is encouraged to turn in sneakers or shoes for the St. Vincent de Paul Society on race day.
