The Terrace at Delaware Park offers opening menu, date

The Terrace at Delaware Park, the new restaurant in the Marcy Casino, opens for dinner on March 30.

Restaurateurs Jason Davidson and Mike Shatzel are opening the restaurant in the top floor of the historic building, overlooking Hoyt Lake.

"Because of the history of the building, the view, and the location, there's definitely heightened expectations for quality and performance," Shatzel said.

An extensive search for staff led the owners to Chef Nick Rada, formerly of The Oak Stave, who designed the menu and will run the kitchen, Shatzel said. Rada's wife Fan will manage the front of the house.

Former Vera bar manager Jason Wood designed the custom cocktail menu. There will be 16 beers on tap, and eight wines on tap, plus a selection of bottles.

Rada's menu includes dishes like pastrami-crusted seared tuna on pickled cabbage ($15), mussels in Allagash White beer or green Thai curry treatments ($14), a salad of crab, avocado and grapefruit ($15), a strip loin beef on weck ($15).

Large plates include branzino ($24), skirt steak with chimichurri, fried potatoes and smoked paprika aioli ($25), and a Mediterranean Plate that includes tzatziki, babaganoush, hummus, grilled pita, chickpea salad, beef souvlaki, and marinated chicken, stuffed Greek peppers ($26).

Renovations to the building, at 199 Lincoln Parkway, include a new bar and hardwood floors. The restaurant was designed by Sara Fitzpatrick, Shatzel's sister.

Marcy Casino, formerly known as Delaware Park Casino, was built for the 1901 Pan-American Exhibition, following the design of architect E.B. Green. The building was extensively modernized in 1961, then restored to a style reflecting its earlier history in 1990.

Wedding banquets and other private functions will continue in the building's lower level.

The bar will open at 4 p.m. March 30, with the kitchen starting at 5 p.m. Serving ends at 9:30 p.m. Next week, lunch starts Tuesday, when the hours will become 11:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Phone: 886-0089.
