Buffalo bank robber pleads guilty in two cases

A Buffalo man accused in two bank robberies last January has pleaded guilty in Erie County Court.

Samuel Roberts, 22, of Stockbridge Avenue, was convicted of robbery in the third degree and attempted robbery in the third degree for separate incidents on Jan. 5.

Roberts robbed the M&T Bank branch in University Plaza and a KeyBank branch on Elmwood Avenue, according to police reports. He gave the teller there a note  demanding money, but did not show a weapon.

Security officers pursued the robber, who was captured near the bank.

Judge Kenneth F. Case scheduled sentencing for May 10.
