Two men were charged by West Seneca police with driving under the influence of a substance in separate incidents less than 12 hours apart.
Joshua J. Huber of Orchard Park was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an injury accident after the vehicle he was driving struck another vehicle about 4:40 p.m. in the 1300 block of Union Road. Officers said Huber parked his vehicle and fled the scene. He was later found by police, arrested and taken to police headquarters where he failed sobriety tests and submitted to a breath test that resulted in .20 reading, equal to 2 1/2 times the legal limit. Huber was released to a sober adult and is due in court at a later date.
Less than 12 hours later, at 3:40 a.m. Monday, patrols in 700 block of Orchard Park Road pulled over William R. Kurban of North Tonawanda for having a headlight out. Police said Kurban had slow speech and poor motor coordination when they questioned him and he admitted to having taken Suboxone, a prescribed medication, earlier in the evening. Kurban subsequently failed field sobriety tests.
Kurban was arrested for driving while intoxicated and released to a sober adult and is due in court at a later date.
