The Flames went 16-6 last season and lost to West Seneca East in the Class A-1 championship. They have a wealth of experience returning, including seniors Jessica Weaver, Brianna Bucello and Samantha Crane and sophomore Christy Mack.

The Blue Devils return a trio of fourth-year players in seniors Alessondra Chimera and Grace Ferguson and junior Abby Borkowski from last year's 14-5-1 team which lost to eventual Class AA champ Orchard Park in the playoffs.

Additional game
- Roy-Hart at Niagara Falls, 4:45 p.m.

2. Girls lacrosse - Eden at Hamburg, 7:30 p.m.

Hamburg, the five-time reigning Class B champs, hosts Eden in a nonleague season opener for both squads. The Bulldogs, who have played up a competition level in Class A in past regular seasons, are now part of the five-team Class B division with Niagara Wheatfield, North Tonawanda, West Seneca West and Williamsville North. Eden went from Class C to the new three-team Class D with East Aurora and Springville.
