Flags will be flown at half-staff at all New York State buildings Tuesday in honor of U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Alexandria Mae Morrow, who died in Southwest Asia Wednesday in a non-combat incident.
Morrow was 25 and grew up in Dansville in Livingston County, near Rochester. She was the mother of two young children, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.
She was "performing maintenance duties in support of combat operations," when she died March 22, according to the Department of Defense.
She was assigned to the 366th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, officials said.
"On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Staff Sgt. Morrow and join in honoring her service to our nation," Cuomo said in a statement Monday. "I am directing flags to be flown at half-staff tomorrow at all state buildings to pay tribute to her courage and sacrifice in defending the freedoms this state and this nation were founded upon."
