NIAGARA FALLS – A self-employed automobile mechanic told police he was recently threatened and victimized by a man who claimed that he had “messed up’’ his car.
Police said the mechanic was contacted last week via Facebook by the man and arranged to fix his car. After the car was serviced, police added, the customer returned to the mechanic's Seventh Street home to complain that his car was damaged and demanded that the mechanic pay up to have the vehicle repaired or he would break a window of the mechanic's truck.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, the mechanic heard a crash outside his home, saw a man fleeing in a Chevrolet box truck and discovered a window had been smashed on his truck, police said. Damage was estimated at $150.
An investigation is underway.
