Sewer main rupture fouls Silver Lake Outlet in Perry

State and Perry crews were working Saturday to contain a sewer line break that was dumping raw effluent into the Silver Lake Outlet.

The pipe broke in the vicinity of 7572 Water Street Road and was discharging about 35 gallons of sewage per minute, according to bulletin a Department of Environmental Conservation and Village of Perry crews.

The department said it is unknown whether any public areas are affected, but that personnel had been dispatched to address the break.

The sewer main rupture occurred late Friday night, DEC reported Saturday.
