Patrick L. Wiles, longtime Ken-Ton educator, administrator and coach

March 24, 1929 – March 19, 2017

Patrick L. Wiles, a longtime educator in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda school district, died last Sunday  in Leesburg. Fla., after a battle with cancer. He was 87.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Wiles graduated from North Tonawanda High School and the University at Buffalo, where he earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

He started his career as a physical education teacher in 1959 and also served as a gymnastics coach, football coach and assistant athletic director. He then went on to become an assistant principal at Hoover Middle School and assistant principal at Kenmore West Senior High. He retired in 1989.

Mr. Wiles was a member of the New York State Administrators Association and University of Buffalo Alumni Association.

Upon retirement, Mr. Wiles moved to Leesburg, where he was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, the former Gloria Bosso; three daughters Mary Bayer, Nancy Dieker and Wendy VanHowe; a brother Thomas; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. April 1 in Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg.
