A man was in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center after he was stabbed several times at a residence on Delmar Avenue in the Town of Tonawanda early Saturday, Town of Tonawanda police said.
Town of Tonawanda police were called to the address on Delmar at 3:45 a.m. and found the victim had lost a large amount of blood and had deep puncture wounds to the kidney area. The victim remained in the hospital's intensive care unit as of 1 p.m.
Tonawanda police said the victim was able to identify his assailant and gave police a description of the man and his vehicle.
A short time later, City of Tonawanda police stopped the vehicle matching that description and called Town of Tonawanda police, who took the subject into custody.
Charged with criminal possession of a weapon and first-degree assault was Gabriel A. Lopez, 22, of Cheektowaga. He was arraigned by a town justice and remanded to the Erie County Holding Center on $10,000 bail.
