They may not have Rasmus Ristolainen, but for once the Sabres are actually getting guys back.
Defenseman Dmitry Kulikov and forwards Kyle Okposo and William Carrier are expected to play Saturday when Toronto visits KeyBank Center. Defenseman Justin Falk is probable, too.
“He had done well the last couple days, had a conditioning skate yesterday, and practice today was a test for him,” coach Dan Bylsma said Friday. “We’ll see how he responded to that, and it’s a possibility to see him in our lineup.”
The Sabres will still need at least one defenseman from Rochester with Ristolainen serving a three-game suspension.
The Sabres’ lines at practice:
Tyler Ennis-Ryan O’Reilly-Okposo
Marcus Foligno-Jack Eichel-Sam Reinhart
Evander Kane-Evan Rodrigues-Brian Gionta
Carrier-Zemgus Girgensons-Matt Moulson/Hudson Fasching
In a twist, the Sabres practiced with five forwards on their first power-play unit: Eichel, O’Reilly, Kane, Okposo and Reinhart.
“It should be dynamic,” Bylsma said.
