Julie A. Kresse, who enjoyed sports and music, and worked in the financial aid office at Rosary Hill College, died March 11 at her home in East Amherst. She was 91.
The former Julie A. Simon was born in Buffalo. She was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary Seminary, and briefly attended D'Youville College before working full time as a medical secretary for a physician in private practice.
She and her husband, Richard, married on June 16, 1951. He died in 2004.
In 1975, Mrs. Kresse returned to college at age 43 and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Rosary Hill College. She and her husband moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1984, and returned to the local area in 1998. In addition to her employment at Rosary Hill, Mrs. Kresse had several other jobs, including with Village of Williamsville and at Best Western hotels. She retired in 1998.
For much of her life, Mrs. Kresse was an avid sports fan and attended many Bills and Sabres games with her husband from the beginning of those franchises in Buffalo. In addition, the couple attended many Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra concerts. They also enjoyed traveling abroad and took trips to Germany, England and Mexico.
She was a 9-hole ladies golfing champion at Ransom Oaks Country Club.
In 2004, Mrs. Kresse joined St. Joseph's University Church, where she served as a greeter.
She is survived by four sons, Richard Jr., John, Kevin and Peter, and six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's University Church, 3269 Main St.
