A new franchise hopes to welcome as many as 30 new health and beauty micro-companies to Williamsville next month.
Franchise owners and Orchard Park residents Shel and Lisa Schenkler are putting the finishing touches on a beauty complex called MY SALON Suite. It consists of 25 to 30 small units to be rented individually by professionals such as hair stylists, makeup artists and estheticians.
It's common for stylists to rent a chair at someone else's salon. But the MY SALON Suite concept allows entrepreneurial health and beauty professionals to rent suites and open self-contained businesses of their own.
Those who rent units are provided furniture, equipment and some infrastructure services including suite maintenance and business development support. Hair salon units, for example, can be outfitted with a full-length style station, styling chair, shampoo sink and color station. Amenities also include a security system, bathrooms and an elegant lobby. Renters are also offered training, business support and access to referrals.
MY SALON Suite is located in the 5500 Williamsville Center at 5500 Main St. Each unit is 120 to 220 square feet. The Schenklers are putting the finishing touches on the complex, which will open in early May.
"Several" people have signed on to rent suites already, but Shel Schenkler declined to disclose how many units are filled.
MY SALON Suite has about 40 complexes in 13 states and Canada. The New Orleans-based company plans a rapid expansion into the United States and Canada with another 200 franchise partners and 300 new salons over the next five years.
