Orchard Park preserves spring break after snow days take a toll

Good news, Orchard Park Central students: The School Board has saved the April break.

But because the school district called more snow days than it had allotted this  year, there are a few tweaks to the schedule.

The district put three snow/emergency closing days into this year's calendar, but school was closed four days for snow and emergencies, and South Davis Elementary was closed an additional day in September because of a power outage.

The School Board approved these changes to the calendar to keep the student attendance days up to the the regulation 180 days:

May 26 will be a half day for kindergarten through eighth grade, with an early dismissal for the high school.

June 16 will be a half day for kindergarten through eighth grade.

June 20 will be a full day for  elementary students, and the last day of attendance for Eggert, Ellicott and Windom students.

June 21 will be a full day of attendance for South Davis students, and will be their last day of school.

"It's been worse," Superintendent Matthew McGarrity said of the changes to the calendar.
