Letter: Toddler’s tragic death raises many questions

Toddler’s tragic death raises many questions

Another tragedy involving an innocent 2-year-old, this time Ethan Bigham, who allegedly was abused at the hands of a 17-year-old, Devon VanDerWege.

Where were the four adults who were living in the home? Where were the grandparents and relatives if they suspected abuse? How do you leave a 9-month-old and a 2-year-old, who need a lot of attention and care and patience, in the hands of a 17-year-old male baby sitter?

I am a recently retired great-grandmother who baby-sits for my two great-granddaughters. They are almost 4 years and 1 year old. It’s tiring but we know they are safe and taken good care of. I’m sure it’s difficult for family and friends to intervene or help with child care, but again Child Protective Services gets the blame.
