Letter: It’s hard to understand the president’s budget

It’s hard to understand the president’s budget

I don’t understand North Korea. A nighttime view of both Koreas shows South Korean cities illuminated and bustling. North Korea is dark and impoverished. Yet, Kim Jong Un spends millions researching and launching nuclear-capable missiles into the sea. Does he not know or does he not care about the poor and hungry?

I don’t understand President Trump. His budget takes $54 billion from non-defense programs. Most of these programs benefit the poor. He will take food from the homeless, care from the elderly and solutions from the mentally challenged so that he can give the military $54 million. Does he not know or does he not care about the poor and hungry?

If you believe that whatever you do to the least of us, you also do to the Lord, then the view from the heavens of Trump’s America is very dark.
