South Buffalo man dead after jumping from window in North Tonawanda

NORTH TONAWANDA - A South Buffalo man is dead after he jumped out a second-story window Monday morning, though police aren't sure exactly what happened or why.

North Tonawanda police responded to 84 Sweeney St., at 7:19 a.m. Monday for the report of a disturbance and a man acting irrationally, Police Detective Capt. Thomas E. Krantz said.

The man was running up and down the hallway and yelling, a neighbor reported to police, Krantz said.

As police arrived at the building, which contains apartments and businesses, they heard glass break, he said.

The man, identified by police as David L. Buonamici, 32, was found in an alley between the building and 15 Webster St. Buonamici was taken to Erie County Medical Center where he later died, Krantz said.

Buonamici had been with a female friend and they had been out until about 4 a.m., Krantz said. The woman was in the bathroom at the time Buonamici went out the window, he said.

The case remains under investigation as police await toxicology results.
