Canisius unveils its 2017 football schedule

The defending state Catholic champion Canisius Crusaders released their schedule Wednesday afternoon via its Twitter account and will be road warriors most of the time.

Canisius opens its title defense Sept. 1 at Section V power Pittsford. That's the first of six road games for the Crusaders, who play two of their three home games Sept. 16 and 23 against league rivals Bishop Timon-St. Jude and St. Joe's. The rematch of the Monsignor Martin final between Canisius and St. Francis is Oct. 21 at Polian Family Field.

Canisius' last regular-season game Oct. 28 is also at home, against Pennsylvania-power Cathedral Prep.

One more item of note: Bishop McDevitt, the Crusaders' Week Two foe, is the alma mater of Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy.
