Man gunned down on East Ferry Street dies from injuries

A man who was chased by a gunman on East Ferry Street before being shot died of his injuries, Police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge said Monday.

The victim was described as a 24 year old man. His name has not been released.  He was shot just before 3 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of East Ferry Street, near Bissell Avenue.

The man's death marks the 16th homicide so far this year in the City of Buffalo.

The neighborhood of the shooting has been in the news recently. Last month, police rescued a man from a burning car at Goodyear Avenue and East Ferry after two vehicles collided head-on. In January 2016, Buffalo police arrested a man for a carjacking at East Ferry and Goodyear. The suspect was wanted for a shooting earlier that week.
