Bandits' burst defeats Stealth; Buffalo moves to 5-6

Buffalo sports fans didn't mind staying up late Friday night to see their favorite teams in action.

The Bandits celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a 15-11 win over the Vancouver Stealth at the Langley (B.C.) Events Centre. The win, which raised Buffalo's record to 5-6, came at about the same time as the Buffalo Sabres' shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks.

The Bandits took control of this game in the second half. They trailed by a goal, 7-6, at halftime. Then Buffalo tallied the next eight goals to take firm comtrol. The Stealth got the next four goals to make it a little interesting, but that only got them to within 14-11 in the last two minutes. Anthony Malcom wrapped matters up with an empty-net goal.

Mitch Jones had a big night for the Bandits, with two goals and six assists for eight points. One of the goals was a great one, as Jones fired a one-timer behind his back while at full speed in the slot. Dhane Smith was right behind him with seven points. Pat Saunders had a hat trick.

The Bandits' lineup looked rather full for a change. Alex Kedoh Hill, Nick Weiss and Malcom all were back in action after missing time with injuries. Ryan Benesch is still out on concussion protocol.

Anthony Cosmo picked up the win in goal. He made 41 saves.

The Bandits will try again to reach the .500 mark in their next game. They play in Rochester on Saturday.
