Reynolds, Vastola take new lobby posts in Washington

Former Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds is furthering his Washington career with a new lobbying firm.

The Clarence Republican, who served 10 years in Congress, has joined Holland and Knight along with Sally Vastola, his chief of staff for all five terms. She also served on Reynolds’ staff in the Erie County Legislature and New York Assembly.

They will work as senior policy advisors in the firm’s Public Policy and Regulation Practice Group in Washington. Douglas Dziak and Jodi Richardson, who along with Reynolds and Vastola worked for the Nixon Peabody firm for the past several years, are also joining Holland Knight as senior counsel and public affairs advisor, respectively.

Reynolds served in the House from 1999 to 2009 representing Western New York’s 26th District, which includes the Buffalo and Rochester areas. He served on the Republican leadership team and was a senior member of the House Ways and Means, Rules and Administration committees, as well as the House Republican Steering Committee. He also served as chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee from 2003-2006.

Vastola also worked closely with the members and staff of the Ways and Means Committee and of the House leadership. She was named one of The Hill’s top 50 staffers four years in a row. In addition, she served as executive director and chief executive officer of the National Republican Congressional Committee during Reynolds’ term as chairman.

“The firm has a strong bipartisan team with deep ties throughout Washington,” Reynolds said, “and a reputation for nurturing long standing relationships on both sides of the aisle while advocating for clients.”

Holland and Knight’s Public Policy and Regulation Practice Group includes more than 100 lawyers and other professionals engaged in federal, state and local government affairs and regulatory counseling and related disciplines. The overall firm employs more than 1,200 lawyers and other professionals in 27 offices throughout the world.
