BARD, Alfred S.

BARD - Alfred S. 83, of Liverpool, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Crouse Hospital. He was born in Buffalo, NY, where he was raised and educated. Alfred continued his education receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Penn State University. He has been a resident of Liverpool since 1970. He was employed with the Army Corps of Engineers, performing structural work around the Northeast. He continued his career in Engineering with Niagara Mohawk, working on projects including Nine Mile Point and hydro-electric plants, retiring in 1990. Alfred loved to golf and play cards, especially bridge and Skip Bo. His volunteer work included helping the blind learn to ski and ride tandem bicycles. He was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Bayberry. He is predeceased by his sister Audrey Bard. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Margaret (Kline) Bard of Liverpool; children: John (Maureen) of Wilmington, DE, A. Scott (Donna) of Albany, NY, Susan (Barbara Hass) of Glenford, NY and Marianne Ovady (Dave Wislowski) of New Gloucester, ME; grandchildren: Michelle (Nathaniel), Christopher, David (Brooks), Michael (Susan), Jonathan (Mariel), Adrienne (Jeff), Tyler, George, Kiren (Cara) and Kaj; great-granddaughters Abigail and Alice, who were born on the same day, a wonderful blessing; brother James (Mary) Bard of Valley Forge, PA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, March 18 from 11 AM-12 noon with Funeral Services to follow at noon at The United Church of Christ in Bayberry, 215 Blackberry Rd., Liverpool. Burial will take place in Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown, PA in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the United Church of Christ in Bayberry and The Friends of Rosamond Gifford Zoo.
