GREENE, Nancy May

GREENE - Nancy May Age 90, of Mayfield Heights, OH,
died peacefully in her home on March 8, 2017. She was born in Buffalo, NY, to the late Florence and Walter Whiting on May 7, 1926. Nancy and her sister Mary Lou supported the family through The Great Depression, performing as The Whiting Sisters, a prodigious song and dance duo, making their debut at the tender ages of three and five. They played all the vaudeville theaters in Buffalo and Western New York, opening for such acts as Red Skelton, and later had their own local radio show throughout their teen years. Nancy is a graduate of Bennett High School in Buffalo and attended Stephens College in Columbia, MO. In 1947, she married Don Greene of Portland, ME at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Buffalo. Always a career woman, she worked as a secretary in Buffalo and Cleveland, OH until she was 83. Nancy was a devoted Redcoat at Playhouse Square in Cleveland for 18 years and loved working the Sunday matinees. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don and oldest son, Gregory.
