The Buffalo Beauts have added a local player to their roster shortly before their final regular-season game of the 2016-17 season.
Hayley Scamurra (Nichols) agreed to a contract and will be in action Sunday against the Connecticut Whale in Northford Conn. The winner of that game will finish third in the National Women’s Hockey League standings and play New York in the first round of the playoffs; the loser will finish fourth and face undefeated Boston.
Scamurra just completed her college career at Northeastern. She was named the Best Defensive Forward by the coaches of the Hockey East conference. The Williamsville resident had 22 goals and 52 assists for 74 points in her last 75 games for the Huskies.
“We have kept a close eye on Hayley’s outstanding development over the last few years, and now we are looking forward to adding her to our team,” Beauts coach and general manager Ric Seiling said.
