St. Francis will dedicate its varsity baseball field to late assistant coach Jeff Sgroi during a ceremony at noon at the field site on March 18.
Sgroi, who passed away due to complications from cancer on Feb. 3, 2016, served as an assistant coach for nine years. He was known throughout the area for his willingness to give to others. The former CFO/partner of Sgroi Financial in West Seneca left behind funding to the school to help transform its field into a top-notch scholastic baseball facility.
Sgroi also was involved with several charties, including Brian Moorman's PUNT Foundation. He also was on the board of the Orchard Park Boys and Girls Club and First Tee of WNY.
The field dedication is open to the public. An invitation-only reception follows the ceremony that will be presided over by St. Francis President, Rev. Michael Sajda.
