A Buffalo man and a Lackawanna woman are accused of robbing a woman of $1,600 in her Lackawanna home, according to police.
Bobby E. Adams Jr., 32, of Buffalo and Laura Adams Yott, 30, were arrested in late February and charged felony robbery and grand larceny. Both waived their rights to a felony hearing, so the case will go to a grand jury, said Capt. Joseph Leo.
"They were kind of in cahoots together," Leo said of the Jan. 29 robbery.
Adams sent Yott to the victim's apartment on the pretext of buying a carton of cigarettes and to make sure no one else was inside the residence, Leo said. The pair was aware the victim had a safe with money inside. Once Yott assured him that the victim was alone, Adams entered the apartment disguised in a mask, Leo said.
After robbing the victim of $45 that she had on her person, Adams threatened the victim with a serrated kitchen knife to get her to open the safe, Leo said. Adams retrieved $1,600 from the safe. Adams and Yott also absconded with a duffel bag containing cartons of cigarettes that was taken from the house, Leo said."Through an investigation, we were able to figure out who it was that did this, and they were both arrested," Leo said
Adams was charged with burglary; robbery; criminal possession of a weapon, grand larceny; and menacing, Leo said.
Yott was charged with robbery and grand larceny,Leo said.
Assisting in the investigation were Detectives Brian Lakso and Charles Jaworski.
