David K. Kelchin of Alden, tax and financial planner

July 19, 1952 – Feb. 7, 2017

David K. Kelchin, a tax and financial planner who owned Accounting Solutions Plus in Depew, died Feb. 7 in his Alden home. He was 64.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Kelchin earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in finance from Canisius College. A certified public accountant and financial planner, Mr. Kelchin was a member of the CFP Board of Standards, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Federation of Independent Business and Financial Planning Association of Western New York. He also was a member of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Kelchin served as an adjunct professor at Niagara County Community College and SUNY Buffalo State.

He also coached baseball, basketball and soccer over 25 years, and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.

He was married to the former Lynn Bauer, who died in 1986.

Survivors include his wife of 28 years, the former Valerie Lensenhuber; two daughters, Kelly Kelchin Lambert and Jenna L.; four sons, Jeff, Eric, Michael and Christopher; a stepson, Richard Morin; his parents, Floyd and Marie Kelchin; two sisters, Karen and Nancy; three brothers, Gerald, Robert “Pete” and Thomas; and nine grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Alden.
