The Erie County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit and SWAT Team, along with Buffalo Police officers, on Thursday seized illegal narcotics and a stolen handgun during a raid on a home on East North Street, according to a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department late Thursday.
The raid resulted in one arrest, he said.
A search warrant was executed at 5:45 p.m. at the residence, according to Scott Zylka, executive assistant to Sheriff Timothy B. Howard.
Calvin Young, 41, a convicted felon, was charged with a felony count of criminal possession of narcotics with intent to sell, according to Zylka.
Young was also charged with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, including a stolen handgun as well as another weapon that was allegedly traced to a burglary in Schuyler County. That led to Young also being charged with criminal possession of stolen property, said Zylka.
Additional charges against Young included criminal use of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child. Zylka said a 13-year-old child was inside the residence at the time of the raid.
Law enforcement allegedly seized 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, an ounce of heroin and 13 ounces of marijuana in the raid. The stolen Springfield .45 caliber handgun seized in the raid was connected to a burglary several months ago, Zylka said.
At the time of the raid, Young was already on federal probation for a felony count of cocaine possession. "We have notified his probation officer and additional charges may be pending from other (law enforcement) agencies," said Zylka late Thursday.
An investigation was begun after the Sheriff's Office received an anonymous tip about drug activity at the residence.CCr
