Buffalo woman draws prison term for shopping with stolen debit card

Leah R. Landman, a Buffalo woman who stole a debit card from a parked car outside a Niagara Falls health club and went on a shopping spree, was sentenced Wednesday to 18 months to three years in state prison.

But State Supreme Court Justice John L. Michalski ordered that the sentence be served simultaneously with a one- to three-year prison term Landman started in October for a burglary and fraud conviction in Erie County. She is serving her time in Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in Westchester County.

Landman, 38, of Busti Avenue, will owe $1,140 in restitution after she is released from prison. She stole the First Niagara Bank debit card from a man's car parked outside Gold's Gym on Military Road in the Falls on May 20 and used it for shopping at a nearby Walgreens pharmacy.
