Buffalo State's Smith receives SUNYAC basketball honor

Former McKinley standout Lovell Smith, a Buffalo State senior guard, has been named all-State University of New York Athletic Conference in men's basketball. The Bengals' Mike Henry (Syracuse) was named to the second team.

Smith ranked fifth in the conference with a 19.9 scoring average while finishing second in the SUNYAC in field goal percentage at 56.6. A second-team selection a year ago, Smith finished his career with 1,303 points, which ranks him eighth on the college's all-time scoring list.

Henry ranked first in the conference in field goal percentage (56.8) and 11th in scoring (15.3).

The Bengals went 17-9 overall, 10-8 in the SUNYAC and were eliminated in the semifinals of the conference tournament with a one-point overtime loss to eventual champion Oswego.
