Fashionistas rejoice: Zara is coming to Walden Galleria.
The trendy, fast-fashion store is scheduled to open this winter. It will fill 30,309 square feet and two floors. The mall declined to say where the new store will be located, but it will likely replace the Sears store that is slated to close mid-April.
Until now, the closest Zara store has been over the border in Burlington, Ont. The company sells affordable, cutting-edge clothing, shoes and accessories for men, women and children. It is known for designing and shipping on-trend clothing to its stores within weeks in response to customers' fashion preferences. The industry average is about six months.
Zara was founded in Spain in 1975 and entered New York City in 1989. It has more than 2,100 stores in 88 countries. It has been listed as one of the World's Most Valuable Brands, with a value of $10.7 billion. For two days in September, its founder Amancio Ortega overtook Bill Gates as the richest man in the world.
