CRONIN, Lawrence A. "Larry"
CRONIN - Lawrence A. "Larry" June 15, 1929 - February 19, 2017, passed away at the age of 87, beloved husband of 54 years to the late Constance (nee Ryan). "There Was A Little Man"... If you know Larry, you know the rest of the words to this song. Larry was anything but a little man. Larry was a force of nature. Larry started his career as a salesman at 14 simultaneously hustling three routes selling newspapers for the Buffalo Courier-Express. He was dubbed the "Human Cyclone". So it began...Larry's love of selling and love of people. After graduating from South Park High School, Larry proudly served two years in the United States Army. Returning to civilian life, Larry continued his life in sales working his way up to executive positions with Prudential Insurance, Piedmont Capital Corporation and multiple Security Investment companies, all while raising a family of seven children with his beautiful wife Connie. Larry was an active member in St. Gerard's Parish, The Knights of Columbus and civic duties as well as volunteering for and finding time to raise funds for charitable causes. Larry moved his family west to San Diego, CA in 1977 to continue his career in the Financial Services Industry. Larry took the town by storm. Larry became active in Our Lady of Grace Parish and Knights of Columbus. Larry, known to many as the "Merchant of Dublin" or "Irish Merchant", was one of the founding fathers of the San Diego St. Patrick's Day Parade, honored as Irishman of the Year, a proud member and past President of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick and a founding member of the Irish Congress of Southern California. Larry served on multiple Board of Directors and continued to immerse himself in volunteering for and fundraising for multiple charitable foundations. Larry's Irish eyes smiled brightest when surrounded by his family, friends and neighbors. A cold beer and singing Irish songs was Larry's recipe for bringing everyone together. "Without resistance" Larry peacefully passed to be with his beloved wife Connie. Larry will be missed by his entire Irish clan and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
