Driver pleads guilty in Cheektowaga crash that hurt 3 boys

A Cheektowaga woman pleaded guilty last week to vehicular assault for driving under the influence and striking three children with her car.

Amber Miller, 24, admitted on Feb. 16 that she was under the influence of the depressant alprazolam on July 28 when she drove across Central Boulevard in Cheektowaga and struck the three boys. The incident occurred at about 4:40 p.m. near the intersection of Eastland Parkway.

One child, Devon Mills, who was 12 at the time, sustained a serious head injury and continues his recovery. Two others Timothy Clontz, 15, and Kendrik Hampton, 12, were less seriously injured.

Miller panicked and drove from the scene, but she returned a short time later and cooperated with police.

State Supreme Court Justice Christopher J. Burns set sentencing for May 10.
