Martha W. Norget, of Williamsville, a retired bank executive, died Thursday in Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, after a short illness. She was 70.
Born in Buffalo, the former Martha Wende earned a bachelor’s degree from Ladycliff College in Highland Falls.
Mrs. Norget was associated with Morgan Guaranty Trust, later JP Morgan, in New York City for 13½ years as a vice president and head of international and domestic relocation, then was vice president and head of trust and investment.
She went on to work for eight years in human resources with a private bank and traveled extensively. She retired in 1991.
A resident for many years of the Galaxy Towers in Guttenberg, N.J., overlooking the Hudson River, she was active in the Galaxy Towers Condominium Association. She chaired the transportation committee, was active on several other committees, and was president and vice president of the board of directors. In 2000, she was presented with a medal of honor for her service to the community. She moved to Williamsville in 2014.
Her husband, Bernard, an acclaimed French-born chef and restaurant owner, died in 2011.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Chantal; and a brother, Christopher Wende.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 1525 Sheridan Drive at Elmwood Avenue, Town of Tonawanda.
