Defeating the Boston Pride has been an impossible dream for the other three teams in the National Women’s Hockey League. The Buffalo Beauts are the latest to fall short in the attempt to spoil their perfect record.
Boston defeated the visiting Beauts, 3-1, Saturday night in the Warrior Ice Arena. The win improved the Pride’s record to 13-0, while Buffalo fell to 5-8-1.
The Beauts played the Pride evenly in the first period, as the teams were tied, 1-1. Emily Janiga scored for Buffalo, which was outshot, 12-3, in the period. But in the second period, Meghan Duggan broke the tie at 17:09. Hilary Knight added some insurance for Boston about 12 minutes into the third period.
The Beauts return home next Sunday for a matchup with the Connecticut Whale.
