Orchard Park envelope manufacturer Quality Park Products plans to close its factory by mid-June, putting 111 employees out of work.
Quality Park Products plans to begin firing workers on March 1 and continue reducing the work force at its factory at 100 Centre Drive through mid-May, the company said in a filing with the state Labor Department.
The company cited economic reasons for shutting down the plant. The shutdown is expected to be completed by June 16, the filing said.
Quality Park Products makes an array of envelopes, mailing and assorted packaging items.
The envelope business is based in Minneapolis, Minn. The Orchard Park facility is one of six manufacturing and distribution centers that the company operates across the United States and Canada. The other centers are located in Utah, Texas, South Dakota, Georgia and Concord, Ont.
Quality Park Products is owned by Cenveo Corp., an envelope manufacturer based in Stamford, Conn.
Officials at Quality Park Products office in Minneapolis and at Cenveo's headquarters in Connecticut did not return telephone calls on Friday. A woman who answered the phone at the Orchard Park facility said she had been told to say that the company had no comment.
