East Aurora man pleads not guilty in friend's shooting death

An East Aurora man pleaded not guilty Friday in Erie County Court to manslaughter and criminal possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting death of his friend in November.

Jake Klocek, 19, is accused of recklessly causing the death of Anthony C. King, 19, of Elma, on Nov. 7.

Klocek reportedly was house sitting at a home on Dorris Drive in Elma and invited two friends over. They found an unloaded .45-caliber handgun and ammunition, and at some point Klocek allegedly fired the weapon and a bullet struck King in the abdomen, killing him, according to investigators.

King was a student at the University at Buffalo.

Klocek remains free on $50,000 bail.
