A former employee of the Erie County Youth Services Division was fatally shot Friday morning at a Columbus, Ohio, apartment complex, Columbus police confirmed Saturday.
Classie Mixon, 32, who leaves behind a 16-year-old daughter, was fatally shot by her boyfriend, Keith Marshall, 28, as they were walking to a car in the 2500 block of Silver Oak Drive before 9 a.m., said police, who added that Marshall drove off with two children, triggering a high-speed chase.
Marshall ended up shooting himself about two miles from the initial shooting scene, police said.
Mixon was pronounced dead at the scene. Marshall was being treated in Grant Memorial Hospital, Columbus, according to police.
Witnesses told police Mixon and Marshall argued as they walked to a car in the apartment complex parking lot, then heard gunshots.
