Lake slush caused low water pressure in Southtowns Monday

Slushy conditions in Lake Erie caused the low water pressure reported Monday in parts of the Southtowns, the Erie County Water Authority said.

"Due to Lake Erie not having frozen over by this time of winter, icy slush conditions appear to have partially restricted water flowing into the Authority’s Sturgeon Point Water Treatment Plant in the Town of Evans," Water Authority spokesman Sean Dwyer said in an emailed statement.

Adjustments were made at the plant and "the system began to return to normal," Dwyer said.
