Driver on probation, open bottle of whiskey fuel Niagara Falls car chase

NIAGARA FALLS – A Cleveland Avenue man faces several charges after fleeing from police who were trying to stop his car because of excessively tinted windows, authorities said.

Octavius L. Miller, 36, was charged with unlicensed operation, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, obstructing governmental administration and the window tint violation.

Police said they attempted to stop the suspect's car about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2700 block of Highland Avenue, and when Miller did pull over in the 900 block of Niagara Avenue, he fled on foot through yards.

Meanwhile, police learned a man had contacted police headquarters and reported the vehicle as stolen. But officers dispatched to a Cleveland Avenue address found Miller sitting in the passenger seat of another car. Police said Miller noted he ran from police because he was on probation and had an open bottle of whiskey in his car.
