NIAGARA FALLS - A Niagara Falls man who was convicted of handgun possession and assault charges in May 2015 has been arrested with a loaded handgun inside his car, State Police said.
Shaquan M. Shingledecker, 22, was taken into custody Thursday after leading police on a brief car chase before losing control and crashing through a fence and into a 75th Street home, said police, who added that they recovered heroin and a loaded 9mm handgun.
Both Shingledecker and his passenger, Yarliss Flecha, 23, of Rochester, were taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Both are currently in jail on multiple felony counts, including criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
In 2015, Niagara County Court Judge Matthew J. Murphy sentenced Shingledecker to 2 1/2 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree assault.
