West Seneca search for superintendent seeks input from students, parents and staff

Before the consultants search for a new superintendent for the West Seneca Central School District, they have to know what they're looking for.

The consultants from School Leadership, former superintendent Howard S. Smith and retired administrator Allan R. Berry, will be meeting with parents, students, staff and community members Feb. 13 and 14 to find out the qualities they want to see in a new leader, and the short-term and long-term challenges a new superintendent will face. The School Board has designated which focus groups will give input.

There's also a link to an on-line survey available on the district website.

Smith and Berry will present a report summarizing what they heard to the School Board at a special meeting Feb. 28. The board is expected to approve specifications that will be used by the consultants and the board in the search.

Superintendent Mark J. Crawford announced in November that he would retire in March and later agreed to stay in the post until May 27.
