Buffalo man faces additional charges over stolen handgun

A 29-year-old Grant Street man faces additional felony charges because he was carrying a stolen handgun when officers arrested him after a brief foot chase late Monday night, Buffalo Police said Wednesday.

Walter Renovales Jr., who was being picked up on a Buffalo City Court arrest warrant in an earlier case, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, officials reported. After being captured in the 900 block of Grant Street about 10:30 p.m. Monday Renovales admitted he as carrying a stolen handgun, according to police. He remained in custody at the Erie County Holding Center Wednesday.
