Catholic league satisfied with how St. Francis and Timon addressed Friday's postgame incident

The investigation is over, as the Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association announced Tuesday night that there won't be any further discipline issued by the league in wake of last Friday's post-game incident at St. Francis High School following the Red Raiders' close win over Bishop Timon-St. Jude.

Here is the press release the league issued by Pete Schneider, the league's interim executive director, Tuesday night.

"The Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association has determined that the administration and Athletic Directors of both Bishop Timon-St. Jude and St. Francis high schools have taken the appropriate corrective measures to address the conclusion of Friday night’s basketball game. MMHSAA would like to thank both schools for their cooperation and proactive response. No further action is required by the league."

Schneider declined further comment.

Police and coaches defused a minor situation in which St. Francis fans and Timon players gathered together after the game. According to David Universal of the New York State Sportswriters Association, a St. Francis fan appeared to taunt Timon players as they were walking off the court. No punches were thrown, Universal said.
