Authorities seized more than 600 bags of heroin packaged for sale and arrested a parolee during a raid at a Buffalo home near the Cheektowaga border on Tuesday, the Erie County Sheriff's Office said.
The raid on Stewart Avenue resulted in the arrest of Welton Miles, 37, who was charged with three felony drug counts, two misdemeanor counts and marijuana possession, the Sheriff's Office said.
Officers with the Sheriff's Office's Narcotics Unit and Buffalo police also seized 10 grams of cocaine, a quantity of crack cocaine and marijuana, as well as various drug paraphernalia. The paraphernalia included aerosol cans with false bottoms which authorities said were used to hide the drugs.
Miles was charged with criminal possession of narcotics with intent to sell, criminal possession of narcotics, criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia, as well as marijuana possession. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Welton has three prior felony convictions on drug and weapons charges, twice on the state level and once on the federal level. Authorities said he is on parole for assault with a deadly weapon.
