Driver of stolen SUV crashes into UB police car during chase

A driver fleeing police in Amherst on Sunday afternoon crashed into three vehicles, including a University at Buffalo Police car, before he was arrested when the chase ended near Erie County Medical Center, police said.

No injuries were reported following the chase, according to Amherst police, who did not identify the 25-year-old driver.

The chase, which involved an SUV reported stolen in Buffalo at about 4:15 a.m., happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. It started in the area of Main Street and Bailey Avenue, continued onto Fillmore Avenue and ended at Fillmore and Gesl Street, police said.

The driver was taken to ECMC for evaluation.

Amherst police did not release any further details.
