Fugitive charged with assaulting federal marshals by ramming vehicles

A federal grand jury Friday returned an indictment charging a Buffalo man with assaulting federal officers and damaging government property.

If convicted on the charges, Kevin Allen Jr. faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and $250,000 fine.

Allen was a fugitive from justice when two U.S. Deputy Marshals in separate vehicles attempted to pull over the vehicle he was driving on Kilhoffer Street, according to the indictment and a complaint that was previously filed on Nov. 1,.

Allen rammed the vehicles driven by the deputy marshals. the complaint said. Neither was injured, but the vehicles they were driving sustained extensive damage, according to acting U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy Jr.

The indictment against Allen is the result of an investigation by the U.S. Marshals Service, under the direction of Marshal Charles Salina.
