$5,000 reward offered for pig stabbing in Sloan

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person  who stabbed a pig in Sloan earlier this month.

The pig was found bleeding heavily in a backyard on Rutland Avenue on Jan. 12, PETA said in a news release. Investigators believe the wound was inflicted intentionally. The pig, now named Tabitha, is recovering from her injuries following emergency surgery, the organization said.

The pig was found in an area where it is illegal to keep pigs as pets, according to PETA. No one has come forward to claim the animal, it said.

PETA asks anyone who may have information about this case to call the organization at (202) 483-7392.
